Joel Synder's article, Test: Spam in the wild, which was published in the September 15th issue of Network World, compared 16 mail filtering gateway products, utilizing a variety of metrics. GFI Software's Mail Essentials version 8 was found to be the worst performer of those tested. GFI turned in an accuracy rate of a dismal 3.6% and a false positive rate of a whopping 56.3%.
