Atom - The Echo of Nonsense

Is this Atom/Echo scam still alive??? If the format is not compatible with RSS, it's a tired power play. Haven't people learned? When Microsoft attacked Netscape and others in the 1990's, much of the promise of the internet died. Microsoft violated the Sherman Act and got control, but the company now rules a rather lackluster world. Will Google be just as foolish in the area of content syndication? I've written previously that it's probably too late to stop the RSS format. RSS is hip, popular, fashionable, and very American. In business terms, it has achieved a considerable scale.
