Super Jewels
It's a Jewel. I've just received a batch of Super Jewel Cases, thanks to Coudal Partners. All I can say is: they are fabulous. They are fantastic. They are awesome. The templates and the perforated inserts are incredible. My design needs a bit of tweaking, but I'll sort that out tomorrow. Presentation is everything. And then I'll flood the ad agencies of London with my stuff. And hopefully get a proper job. Fab. (404 via Schockwellenreiter, via contentschmiede.) [The Cartoonist]

Dean Campaign Blogging From Phoenix
From the Road: Phoenix, Arizona. Hello from Phoenix! We're in our second state of the day, with one more state to go! We started the day in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The Gov did four hours of media time which included radio, print and television into South Carolina, Michigan, Washington and Wisconsin. He also spoke at a well attended - 500 or so people - rally in Santa Fe. We're now in Phoenix. We stopped by our headquarters to say hello to the volunteers who are working hard to get out the vote. The phones were hopping! The Gov is now giving a speech at a Latino leaders conference. After he meets with local media we're getting back on the plane and flying to Spokane, Washington (Three hours on the plane. Ugh!) We hear a rumor that there might be a washer and dryer waiting for us in Spokane. This is good news because we didn't know we were going to be on the road so long so we're all getting a little grungy! I'll give you an update from Washington! (By the way, do any of you know what ...

Dean Campaign's CEO
From Roy Neel. Did you see Howard Dean on 'Meet the Press' this morning? We thought he did a great job, continuing to hammer home the differences between his record of accomplishment as a governor with that of Sen. Kerry. The real electable candidate is the one who has delivered results, not just rhetoric, and that's Howard Dean! And the press is starting to get it. Gov. Dean is driving home the fact that only handful of the delegates have been chosen through the caucus and primaries and we're not going to let the Washington power brokers declare this race over until its over! Thanks to many of you, our crowds over the past week have been phenomenal -- thousands in Michigan, South Carolina, Missouri, New Mexico, Arizona, Washington, Milwaukee, and Detroit. Tomorrow Gov. Dean will be in New Mexico and Arizona, back to Washington, Wisconsin, and Michigan. He is the quintessential Energizer bunny of presidential campaigning -- I'm amazed by his energy and durability! But enough ...

A Healing
A puzzle, then.. Hang on. I know San Felice in Piazza. I live next to it. It's just down the road. I know the column, too. It was erected by Cosimo Medici in... in... in... 1571. St Peter Healing the Sick with his Shadow was finished in 1427, and what's more San Felice in Piazza doesn't have a bell tower. I know - I just checked. They've got the wrong church. They've got the wrong church. Tomorrow, then, we start looking. [Ben Hammersley's Dangerous Precedent]Visiting Florence virtually. I'd rather be there....but this is pretty good.... [Ottmar Liebert]

Howard Dean Working Tucson, Kerry 'Special Interest Clone'
From the Road: Tucson, Arizona. I am sitting in a mini van in Tucson surrounded by hundreds of people who are waiting to say hello to the Gov. He just spoke at a rally with well over 2,000 people!! The Gov gave a terrific speech. He called John Kerry "a special interest clone." The crowd went wild! Soon we'll be off to the airport to fly to Seattle. Then later today we're going to Wisconsin. We were supposed to take a day off in Vermont on Monday, but the Gov has decided to keep going! So we're going to be on the road non-stop for the next seven days. (We didn't pack for this long of a trip, so we may be making a laundry stop along the way. Now wouldn't that be a great photo op!). As you know the Gov was sick last week. He is feeling better now, but he did give his cold/flu to our traveling press. The majority of them are sick. So now candidate Dean is being Doctor Dean! I'll touch base again when we get to Seattle! Forbidden in Japan
Some Ramen Place in Shinuku. "Attention Customers: In order to prevent skipping out on a restaurant bill. We strictly prohibit leaving without paying the bill. Manager" See. Now I'm not convinced that this sign would be considered much of a walk-out deterrent in a US restaurant. The beauty of Japan is that telling people it's forbidden to shoplift or a very naughty thing to kill people and steal their money, is still considered the ultimate argument to freeze halt any dishonest plan in the making. Format Wars? Yuck.
This is looking pretty messy. It's 2004, and I feel the online music industry is at least 6 years behind where it could be. If I recall, music CD's caught on pretty well in the 1980's. The standard was accepted and we all proceeded to buy music. - G.S. Which Format Will Win?. A pitched battle for control of the music-downloading business is raging among Apple (AAPL ), Microsoft (MSFT ), RealNetworks (RNWK ), and Sony (SNE ). Their weapons: software used to buy and listen to music downloads on computers and portable devices. Their goal: to become the industry standard for how music and movie downloads are delivered. The winner will command a lion's share of the thriving market for digital content and devices. [Zeropaid - The File Sharing Portal]

The Donald Trump Show
The Apprentice is pretty good in spite of it being reality T.V. Tonight's episode had some flaws. The women's team has won four business contests so far and the men's team has won none. After a team loses, somebody gets fired by Donald Trump. Another guy got fired in tonight's episode. The women won, but Mr. Trump took them aside for a moment and discouraged them from using their sexuality to make money and win the contests. In addition, I didn't think that any of the men deserved a termination, but the rules of the program say that somebody must to get the axe. This is where the reality show is not at all real. First, people are fired when they'd probably be able to keep their job in real life. Second, Donald Trump is telling women, on an NBC primetime television show, not to be sexy! Yeah right!

Moblogging
Public Moblog: Have You Seen This Scarf?. If you haven't got a moblog yet, you're way behind the times. And you're not alone. I only just got around to starting my own moblog on TextAmerica. It's pure silliness: I've set it up as a sort of scavenger hunt, with this month's target being pictures of Burberry scarves or other accessories that seem to be all over Washington D.C. these days. For some reason they started to annoy me, so I thought it would be a good topic for a public moblog. DVD Audio / Surround Sound Room For Hire - Via Ottmar Liebert
Surround Sound Room for Hire. As I have said before, I am not sold on DVD Audio. Primarily because it necessitates a special room in which one or two people have to sit in the "sweet spot" in order to hear all of the beauty of the DVD Audio surround sound delivery of music...I don't see people building houses with an extra "Surround Sound Music" room, except for a crazy few. Yes, I have a window-less room with a B&W THX 5.1 system with Dual Sub-woofers. But, I was lucky, because when I bought the house it had a rather large darkroom, which I converted to a Surround Sound room. Anyway, I think most people will most certainly not build a room or buy all of the equipment. So, is DVD Audio dead in the water? I had an idea the other day. Movie theaters suck, right? The projectionist doesn't focus properly, the sound is too loud or too soft, the floor is sticky from spilled sodas, the seat is full of popcorn and if the movie is rather long you can't pause for a moment to go to the ...
