Okay, so you have plenty of time and some money. Do anything you could imagine with whatever you have but don't ever consider watching The Hulk, unless of course you are completely deranged and just want to add to your insanity. Hold on, maybe it could even bring you back to life, gawd knows...Don't take my word, go ahead and be foolish!

Lots to ramble about today. Had a really nice time, lets see if I can get all of them...I am still a little high now.First, in the morning dad emailed saying that I had received a cheque for 1200 bucks for one of my articles!! Cool, eh? (...duh?). For lunch I had rice and dal with very typical fish fry. Later after noon, I watched The Recruit. Damn cool movie. It would have been so much more better to watch in a theatre. Then enjoyed lots of Nirvana and Megadeth; the reason I mention this is because it sounds so darned good in the sound system over here...so unlike my damn PC speakers. The most fun I had was in the evening. I went along with my cousin Kamalesh to Fortune...he plays with his band (he is the bassist), Third Base there. I was supposed to meet one of Kamal's friend there...apparently he wanted to meet me, but he didn't turn up. Anyways, I couldn't possibly just sit there doing nothing, so I had a couple of beers, peanuts, fish 'n chips and ended with fig 'n honey. I ...

Watched Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines. Arnie is good and that isn't surprising to me. The movie doesn't have much of a story to it. The action sequences are fantastic and that's what keeps the movie alive. The movie ends in a way, giving you a hint of another Terminator installation. Watch it if you are fine with enjoying the action, because that's all its got.

Okay, so I did not have the patience to wait until 6:30 PM...so, I watched Phone Booth. The movie keeps you interested throughout. Joel Schumacher has done a good job and so have Colin Farrell and Kiefer Sutherland (the caller). You know what was the worst thing of the movie-watching experience? - The damn theatre - Plaza; I don't recall being in a worse theatre ever before. Anyways, the movie was good, so that's fine.Bought Meat Loaf's new album - Couldn't have said it better.I gorged myself with junk food today. I'll go home and just lay down and listen to good music.

I am at an iWay at Brigade road. You know, I had never ever in my life seen a 'sold out' or 'house full' board outside a theatre screening an English movie (Titanic, of course, is an exception), until today. The balcony tickets for the noon show of Terminator 3 are sold out at Rex!! Anyways, possibly, I'll catch Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle at 6:30 PM, but I am a tad unsure of the same because I don't know what to do until then.

Heh!, finally, I applied for passport today...should get it within two months. I also met a senior person at dad's office; that's for the final year project...hope to get a good company. A couple of years back, I was pretty enthusiastic about projects and stuff like that, but, damn, MU has bumped off all of it.I watched Bruce Almighty. Good enough. Don't ya worry Sunil, I'll watch it again!Bought Frederick P. Brooks, Jr.'s The Mythical Man-Month - a classic on software project management; this should make for some good reading.

I had written a JavaScript OPML reader more than a couple of weeks back. The script reads OPML feeds and displays the HTML-formatted version of the same. It works with MSIE only. Remember - first download the script to your desktop and then use it to read any OPML feed.I made changes to the Email Validator JavaScript. The function without RegExps is fine but there was a serious flaw in the RegExp in the other function. Its fine now, I guess :-)I forgot to mention, I had added a new section on Python Scripts at Qiksearch. I added the same section to this site as well. Its here.

Watched How to lose a guy in 10 days yesterday. Its pretty good. Catch it at Sterling.I bought a book - sed & awk, published by O'Reilly. As a matter of fact, I had never heard of sed before. I wanted a book just on awk to improve my awk programming, but this was the only book available and the book seemed pretty good too. sed, apparently, is a stream editor, which means, if you were to perform actions like search/replace etc using an interactive text editor, you can automate that process by feeding these actions sequentially, like commands, to a sed program and then execute the program; pretty much like a shell script. Its very useful if you have to manipulate a number of files. So, at present, I am reading - sed & awk and continuing from where I left with Jon Bentley's Programming Pearls. My article, Tabular Data Control is in this month's issue of e-commerce.

Its been a really long time since I last posted. The server hosting this site has moved; the relocation took some time. Things should be fine now. Now that my exams are over and the server is up, you can expect posts more frequently.I haven't been doing much lately except for watching lots of TV; I watched lots of cool movies during the exams. Amongst the ones I watched, I liked the most: Loser (2000); it has Jason Biggs and Mena Suvari. Oh, I finally bought (a couple of days back) a Samsung CD-RW (52x24x52). I probably wont be burning much CDs, but you know what...its damn cheap!

I watched a couple of movies on HBO in the past few days - Hideaway (1995) and Body Parts (1991). The former has Jeff Goldblum and the latter Jeff Fahey. Both movies have a striking similarity - the protagonist in each case gets into an accident; after treatment by the doctors, weird things start happening in their lives. The movies were fine, but I wouldn't recommend either of them, though comparatively speaking Hideaway is better.

As you have probably noticed the frequency of my posts has decreased. Since its exam time, I don't have anything much to do. Though I am not studying most of the time, I am not working on anything else because I have this exam-thing at the back of my mind and working on something else just doesn't feel right. My article "Manipulate Data in Internet Explorer with the Tabular Data Control" has appeared at DevX. Life is not all that good. I have a couple of reasons for the same - the incredible heat here, technically its not that hot here in Mumbai compared to some of the other states in India but the humidity is the prime cause of the problem. The second reason is that my exams are going to begin and I don't feel good about it, not that I am not prepared for the exams or something but I just hate the damn system. I increasingly think about MU's crappy system during the exam time. Most of the students don't understand the implications of what they are studying (atleast in my college), and that's depressing, but at the end of the day these very students emerge toppers or atleast among the good-students' league. For quite a long, I have thought of registering Qiksearch as a company; well not necessarily Qiksearch, but I want to register my own company. All this while I just thought of doing it, but now I am actually going to do it; of course only after the exams get over. I have been ...

I watched Bhoot yesterday, along with Sangam. If you were not too affected with all the hype surrounding the movie (unlike me), chances are you will be pretty happy with the movie. The movie is scary, trust me...I still feel intimidated by the thought of it. As far as the acting was concerned, all were just fine. The movie is different from most Bollywood movies, definitely worth a watch.

What could make life better at this point of time? A postponement in the exams, maybe?? Yea...and that's precisely what has happened - the exams have been delayed by 6 days. Now, the instantaneous reaction when you hear something like this is - yippee, wow, how nice?!! But, if you think of it, what normally happens is that the extra days just go by futile and you will never even realize. Now I hope things don't go 'normally' this time around.Apparently, my article Making Use of the XML Data Source Object has inspired at least one individual if not others. The guy has created a HTML Application (HTA) - a XML based News Reader. Download the application here.

I watched The Core today at Moviegem along with Sangam. The movie isn't bad at all. Its one of those movies where the planet is under trouble and our heroes are on a mission to save the people of Earth from whatever dilemma there might be. Remember Armageddon? The difference here is that instead of venturing into outer space, our heroes venture deep inside the Earth's surface - into it's Core. Quite obviously, everything in the movie is very surreal. Worth watching once, though...its better to watch it on a big screen.I'll be going to college tomorrow, the director of SFIMAR has some work for me - he wants me to put up their new brochure online, I hope there's nothing else to be done, I have started to become uninterested in this. Since its not that big a deal, I'll do it anyways.

Everything went well today...the OS submission is over, that completes all the term-work submissions. The oral exam on OS was good; actually she (the teacher) did not ask us (I was with Krunal) very specific questions, she definitely knew our aptitude - a cut above the rest. Am I being arrogant?? Anyways, I remember one incident - she asked us a question relating to deadlock detection and we answered it using a convention exactly opposite to how its meant to be. She then taunted us (pointing to Andrew S. Tanenbaum's book on OS) by asking, "Are all the authors in the world fools to follow the convention that they follow?". I recognize that conventions are made so that people follow them but after all conventions are just what they are - conventions, nevertheless I'll follow them. We weren't trying to be arrogant by using the convention we used, it was just that we did not give it much significance; there are more important things in the study of Operating Systems than an ...

Yea, my Journal has been reviewed at The Weblog Review. The reviewers, miel and firefly had a lot of good things to say about it. Thanks to them! You can read the review here.Today has been a good day - I finished submitting all my term-works except OS (Operating Systems) which I will be doing tomorrow along with an oral examination, which with my presumptuous nature will surely fetch me good marks; I just hope the teacher is in good mood and does not get pissed with my rash attitude.
