JFreeChart Problems
I am having some issues with JFreeChart and servlets tonight. Very frustrating. Only when I have issues like this does the compile cycle really bug me. I am going to sleep on it in hopes that I will be able figure it out in the morning ;)

Clean Code
I like to write clean looking code. I think that is part of the reason I enjoy Ruby. I wrote a little Ruby tonight, but I also wrote some Java. While Java is much more verbose than Ruby, it seems just as clean to me.

New CentreSource Website
We launched a new website for CentreSource. It is a good looking site that Misty, Nick, Chip, and the rest of the team spent a good amount of effort on.

Holiday Lights
Well, add Fat Tuesday and Ash Wednesday to the list for the “Holiday Lights” on my house. It is really time to take those down ;)

PHP5 All Over Again
Zend missed the deadline for the preview release of the Zend Framework. I wrote about it in a post on the CentreSource Blog.

MySpace is Anti-Social
The most ’social’ site on the internet is catching flack these days for all of the wront reasons. Virtually everyday you hear stories about how MySpace is putting kids at risk to sexual predators. Sure that may happen, but that happens everywhere, malls, schools, concerts, jobs, etc. I have been on a kick lately [...]

Cool Stuff at Plato’s Closet
There is some very cool stuff going on at Plato’s Closet of Cool Springs these days. Sabrina and Megan are helping Plato’s be more involved in the community and I have a feeling they are just getting started. By sheer luck Megan (the store manager) has a brother who is a great photographer. [...]

Hyperwords
I have to give it a little more thought and put aside some time to write a post about the idea of hyperwords. I plan to publish it on the CentreSource Blog tonight.

Whose Team is Bush On
Bush has now stated that the tape from Osama Bin Laden helped him beat Kerry in 2004. I would agree with Bush that the tape helped Bush win the election. I disagree as to what it means though. “I thought it was going to help,” Bush said. “I thought it would help remind people that [...]

34
Did you see that President Bush’s approval rating has hit a new low of 34? Me too. Ha! I think Cheney was hunting the wrong duck. He should have shot the lame one ;)

And the winner is…
Sitting down with some lunch and going to watch the Apple announcement via the blogosphere. Such a dork, but hey…

Statzen Update
I am really kicking ass on statzen development these days. It is a real sacrifice for the entire family, but everything I am seeing leads me to think this is a real viable business. I also think my velocity is starting to pick up because I am getting to some of the fun [...]

Compromise
I really dislike compromise. Compromise denotes that one more more sides are not really getting what they want; I think there is even an undertone that all parties are not getting what they want in a ’successful’ compromise. CONSENSUS PEOPLE!

Nashville is now Metroblogging
It is official! Nashville now has it’s own Metroblog at nashville.metblogs.com. From the looks of the posts so far it looks like it is going to be a nice addition to the Nashville blogging community. Of course, I might be a little biased. The Nashville Metroblog currently has 6 bloggers: Mary Hulse, Bo [...]

Quote of the Day
It’s what New Orleans is this extended Carnival weekend — playing like children, wearing some slightly risque clothing and keeping some kind of guard up in case we need it. [via MetroBlogging New Orleans]

Economics of Relationships
Ok, a few weeks ago I started thinking about a service to manage relationships that other services could use to make connections within their own system. Nothing new as far as the social networking goes, but the differentiator would be in making the system (and data) open via APIs. I talked to Cory [...]

Defining Racism
Kudos for Chris Wage for bringing the bias / bigotry debate to the simplest terms. What we are really talking about here is racism. Chris is right, Bob Krumm is racist. He and his supporters are trying to turn this into a debate about semantics on whether or not Bob actually said [...]

A Nation of Dorks
I just got an email from a guy letting me know he had added my site to his blogroll. I think that was a pretty cool move. I returned the favor and added Dork Nation to my blogroll as well (it will appear on the site next time I export from NetNewsWire). It is always [...]

Attention Software Developers
I just stumbled upon a really great magazine for programmers called ObjectView. I have a really hard time finding technology magazines that provide content worth reading (due in large part to the wealth of information on the web). However this looks to be a really solid exception to that rule. So, are you ready [...]

Have Fun Sweetheart
I gave Sabrina a weekend trip to Chicago with some of her girl friends. This is that weekend. They flew to Chicago this morning and will be staying at a fancy hotel looking out over Lake Michigan. She even got some spending cash (that I had to hide until last night). I hope she has [...]

Ruby on Rails Group in Nashville
I am looking for a Ruby on Rails group in Nashville. There doesn’t seem to be one, but I queried Rick Bradley and he sent a notice of the Nashville Dynamic Languages Group. Timing is perfect. They get extra points for including Smalltalk and Lisp in the mix. Those are two [...]

It is Not About the Ports
Remember that bigoted wanna-be politician that I mentioned yesterday? In typical republican form he is now trying to back pedal and say that he just has a ‘bias’. Bob, listen up, you are not a bigot because you oppose the ports deal; you are a bigot because you judge an entire ‘race’ of people based [...]

Why Be Politically Correct
Why be politically correct when you can be a bigot instead! note: this is not related to who I was talking about last night, but it fits the same theme asides

I told Cory today that if Mac OS X has a single widespread virus anytime soon I will be switching back to Linux as my primary OS. However, this time it will be on Mac hardware ;) asides

Not an Excuse
You know what is really pissing me off? People using the whole ‘political correctness’ push back as an excuse to openly practice bigotry. I am amazed at the number of people who seem to buy into this excuse. As I see heads nodding in agreement about not wanting to be ‘politically correct’ [...]

New Tattoo
Sabrina and I have both been contemplating new tattoos for a while now. My only problem is that I have no idea what I want to get this time around. Well, I have an idea, but only in the sense that I know I want it to be a work of art. I am [...]

Nashville Weather
It’s cold, it’s hot, it’s cold. Grrrrrrr! Looks like it is going to warm up again. Looks like once again the warm-up is going to take place in the middle of the week, cooling off before the weekend. That means that once again I will not get to play golf this weekend. Maybe this [...]
