Nuts, this thing lost about 11% power in 20 hours of sleep. Must be something wrong with the battery. Long, 13 hour flight to Tokyo. The plane had the MAGIC-I system. So, every seat has private LCD display and controller with video, audio, and game functions. Several cheesy games. But the big thing for me is several video (mostly movie) tracks that repeat. And, I had enough time to catch each movie (well, the ones I hadn't seen and repeats of parts of ones I had). Free and Easy 14. Incredibly funny Japanese film I'd never seen before. Saw Pirates of the Carribean. I'd seen parts of it before (never saw the last part), but now had the opportunity. Saw many parts of it over and over again, including the end part I missed before. There's even a scene with the monkey at the very end, after the credits, which is pretty funny -- may or may not lead to sequel -- if it does, then it was pretty blatant. It's been a hectic week already. We're painting the house this week. More precisely, we're paying someone to paint the house. That only makes the experience more accute in the moving-stuff-around category. Last night it was reminiscing as I dug through old receipts, about the places we had been when we spent that money. Old business cards from people I still know, who worked at companies that don't exist anymore (including a few of my own). Tonight we had to move the big furniture. As we did, all of these ideas started popping up of how we could relocate, consolidate, renovate. Could we put the bookshelf downstairs and move that table into the alcove where we could finally plug that light in? How about a hutch with a glass cabinet on top and a desk for writing in the kitchen? Wow, there's really a lot of room with that moved out. It's been very frustrating but I finally got the home network problem fixed. It turns out not to be a DSL issue but a router firmware issue. I had upgraded the Linksys BEFSR11 router to the latest firmware (version 1.45.7). I was having all kinds of problems with this version but thought it was the DSL or wireless network. I found a hint to the source of the problem at VersionTracker. Once I downgraded to version 1.44.2z everything started working.
