Last week’s roadshow events were great! We visited Denver on Tuesday and St. Louis on Thursday. I also had the chance to present at the Colorado Springs .NET Users Group on Tuesday night. Wednesday I had the opportunity to present to several Denver area ISVs as well as a set of Denver area architects from local companies – great stuff! I'll update the slides and demos @ www.asp.net/roadshow later today. While in Denver Ashwin Karuhatty (Microsoft Denver Developer Evangelist) gave me a biometric device after I spied his while we were on stage preparing for the Roadshow. The device is made by Digital Persona and can be used as a replacement for typing a password when logging on to Windows. It can also be used for encrypting files and web site password management. Pretty cool stuff! I set up the finger print recognition software on the plane home from Denver. The goal of the partnerships, said Camm, is to allow the product to share monitoring information with third-party tools to help spot performance problems while an application is running or during the development process. RSS Bandit is getting better and better. I'm really thinking about switching from SharpReader, but it doesn't feel right at the moment. Anyway, contrary to SharpReader, you can get the bandit's source code. Because I really like the UI of Outlook 2003 (and FeedDemon), I patched RSS Bandit: It took about 15 minutes. Mainly I docked the feed item list and the splitter to the left. Additionally, I've created a custom feed item formatter, which bases on Julien Cheyssial's MyBlogroll template. I had quite a busy week...I spent the first few days training up in Scotland and the later part of the week working on a new interactive CD Rom training module. I finished the final edits on the calendar and have now sent it forward for production. Visited my spiritual home yesterday...the mountains. I must endeavour to get a second house in the mountains to cut down on wear and tear of travelling in one day. Yesterday, it was a 2 1/2 drive to the trailhead, a 4 1/2 hour hike, followed by a 2 1/2 drive back home. Yikes!

My favorite reader anecdote (from the Savage column): I work in the film business in Toronto and I recently worked on the Dawn of the Dead remake, with Zack Snyder directing. We were shooting a scene with Sarah Polley and Jake Weber in which they were supposed to be drinking horrible coffee and commenting to each other of its foul taste. I implored Zack to do one take using the term "santorum" in reference to the coffee.
