I have found myself playing entirely too many video games lately. Between Ratchet and Clank 2, Prince of Persia, and Final Fantasy X-2, it's hard to make progress on any of them. They're all awesome. And just think, Deus Ex...

"Next time the president tells us there's no money for our dilapidated schools and none for our run-down roads ... next time he ridicules the idea of a national health plan as too costly ... next time he says we just can't blindly throw money at our problems and proposes severe cutbacks for our human needs, ask him about the latest $87 billion going to Iraq."

"The New American Century -- as envisioned by the neoconservative right and embraced by President Bush -- is actually similar to the Old American Century. The "new" version, however, doesn't bother with pretending that global military superiority is in any way related to national defense. America, it is argued, has always constituted an unfinished project, and it refers to the United States or the continent. Yet under the Bush 2002 doctrine, it is now unabashedly militarily pre-emptive and aggressively global in scope. "

"An Indian woman had to die in war for folks to figure out how to honor native women. Lori Piestewa, a Hopi single mother of two, was honored in Arizona this summer as the first Native American female soldier to die in war. But many Native American women died in wars against the Indians, and many are courageously raising their children as single parents as Piestewa did. ... Yes, Lynch got a movie. But Piestewa got a mountaintop."

Welcome to the Google2Atom web service. Just enter your search and your Google key below. Once you press "Search" you will get an Atom feed of the search results. Google Key: Note: The Google Key is no longer mandatory, if it's not supplied it will use my own key. In light of that please feel free to use my key for experimentation, but if you start making heavy use of this service please get your own Google API Key to avoid limiting others use of this service. This is a REST based reformulation of the Google API. As such it uses query parameters in a GET based HTTP request to do the search. That is, it works just like the regular google web page, but this form returns a well-formed XML document instead of a web page. Why is this better? Simplicity It works just like the google web page, so it is conceptually easier to understand. Composability Since the request is just a simple GET the results of a query can be composed with other web services. For example, the results could be ...

Earlier tonight, on the way home from work, I had a nice long drive as traffic, although it didn't look like it was that bad, was one of the worst days yet. I didn't really mind it all that much, since I got a phone call. A transatlantic phone call to be exact. It helped to move the time along much better. A very good friend, like the kind you'd ask to be your best man if you ever decided to get married, was having a bit of a brain twist. He needed to tell me about his date. Frustriert!!! That's German for frustrated. And that's how the phone conversation started. I didn't even have a chance to say anything before he bellowed out. Now it has been a few weeks since I've spoken German so it took me about a minute to switch my brain over so I could understand not just the words, but the emotion behind them. The emotion was of course the most important part of this talk. Like me, he had been in a long term relationship. Well, his was only a year, so I don't know if you'd call it long ...
