I've been talking to Robin Good. And i've been learning so much. Robin's definitely a change agent, promoting better understanding of technology for better and more effective communication. He's developed an Official Guide to best Web Conferencing and Live Presentation Tools. Its a terrific resource - well-documented and very comprehensive. Useful for anyone who uses or wishes to use online collaboration software. Whether individual or groups, whether SOHO or enterprise markets. Thanks Robin for sharing it with me - i learnt so much studying it. I did a search for other such resources - and came up with just one that comes close - Thinkofit. Robin interviewed me as part of his series on the future of online collaboration. Here's the full interview with his comments (highly flattering :):):))and a full transcript - i loved answering this question in particular : Robin Good: Can you describe your ideal dream conferencing/collaboration system in its main characteristics? Dina Mehta: ...

Evening Plaza Sorry, I didn't post anything on Friday night, but when I got back from Plaza I needed to do some things before the long weekend and didn't have time to post. We checked the homework, but a lot of people hadn't finished it. It is important to do the homework before class, so that we can go over it quickly. If everyone tries to do it in class we can't move to new material. The homework for next week is to do the language check on page 22 and remember to wear something colorful.

Morning Plaza I showed you the scarf that Yumiko got from Sayuri and I mentioned that Sayuri had a website. If you follow this link you can see more of here works. Toshiko did the Eiken interview on Sunday, but she said she was too nervous and couldn't answer the questions. If she didn't pass I am sure she will next time. We talked about make plans and practiced the conversations many times. We will do it some more next week, so practice at home using the CD like I suggested. The homework for next week is to do exercises 1 and 2 on page 67.

I found this the other day and didn't have a chance to blog it at the time. Imagine you're building a control and you want the developer to be able to specify the colour of some element on it (imagine something like a progress bar that shows a percentage value), but you want to accent other drawing elements of that controls in subtlely different colours. For example, you might want to let the developer say that he/she wants a “RoyalBlue” progress bar, but to make it look a little nicer you want to use a graduated fill from a light blue to the blue he/she specifiies. System.Windows.Forms.ControlPaint has a number of methods that let you get slightly different colours from a seed colour. They are, and the name explains it all: DarkDark, Dark, Light and LightLight.

Here's an unpopular opinion for your little piss off my friends with carefully vague darts at them disguised as cool and hip content10 unpopular opinions meme making the rounds. Memes and quizzes are stupid. And people participate in them because they cannot write actual creative content. Boy I feel better now.

There’s apparently a Cornell University and University of Virginia project called Fedora, and they’re having a spat with Red Hat over their Fedora project. The universities’ press release contains the gem: The Cornell and Virginia teams have taken a number of steps to try to work with Red Hat regarding use of the name Fedora. At this date, Red Hat has refused our request to withdraw its trademark applications and reverse its claims of usage restrictions on the name. Cornell University and the University of Virginia are now considering various legal options in response to Red Hats actions. Yes, that’s right: you’re “working with” someone when in response to them not immediately doing what you want, you start bitching and moaning in public and try to sue. Nice, guys.

Tomorrow (Friday) we're leaving to go to Denver, Colorado. We're going to my parents' where we'll see them and Becky. It'll be for my parent's 30th anniversary, which is cool, but I know that its going to be fast and we'll be sad its all over when its all over. I have cool parents, the kind that you see on television that are all sappy and still romantic. Yeah, that's them. The...

Mural UpdateSlowly, but surely the mural is taking shape. Jodi is really taking her time on this, I believe this is her first major project so she's trying to make a showcase out of it. We're thrilled to have her talent involved in this. Tomorrow the scaffolding arrives and Jodi says she's going to be spending a lot of time here once it arrives. We'll see a lot more progress then. Of course as the old cliche goes a picture is worth a thousand words, so I've uploaded some photos highlighting the progress to date. We still have the top half of the main wall to complete and no work has started on the wall next to the stairs yet. Just look at the details, I love this old guy below selling his potatos. Out of all the details so far in the mural the boxes below are my favorite. They look so real and this old lady I can just hear her saying, "Don't you ta touch a my flowers!" I wasn't sure at first if I was going to like the colors used below for the dress, but now that the details are ...
