When a specification is silent about a matter that seems important, that's probably a risk area. Mysterious silences may be caused by a simple oversight. Or maybe because that information is "obvious" (see the Obvious/Oblivious heuristic). I smell bugs whenever I ask the developer about something and I get a shrug, or hear "I haven't really thought about that."...

I recently got the new ms multimedia keyboard at work. Why must the hardware designers screw with the keyboard layout? Why must they clown around with the placement of the delete key, insert key, page up and page down? Between this keyboard, the keyboards on my mac, and the original ms ergo keyboard, I can't figure out where to place my fingers anymore. The multimedia keyboard would be such a nice piece of hardware if they had only left these keys alone. Does anybody really need a double size delete key? What are they thinking? Ya know, deleting things is pretty important. Maybe we should emphasize the importance of such activities and make the key double in size. Oh brother... About two years ago a got a new laptop for work. It was a Toshiba. All my previous laptops were IBMs. I struggled with the Toshiba because of its keyboard layout. So, I've got like 50+ people subscribed to my nGallery newsletter. But, I don't really have a great mechanism to actually communicate with these subscribers. So, I started doing some research... I found one service called “Constant Contact” by Roving.com: http://www.roving.com/products/ It's really pretty interesting. You create groups of e-mail addresses, and then create “campaigns”, specificing which groups to contact, through what dates, what e-mail template to use, what content to send, and then you schedule a time for it to be delivered. I'm aiming to do something very similar (calling it “Paperboy“ at the moment), but include the ability to add/remove easily, for easy integration into other sites and easy opt-out from a link within the newsletter. Would this be a product you guys would be interested in?

I've been working on my Indigo performance review for Allchin. I'm in the last hard push stage of finishing it off. We made great progress on pulling together working set numbers last week, and with Yasser's help we're making good progress on throughput graphs. I need to finish up working set and initialization costs by Monday, so that I have next week to finish security and reliable messaging. I had planned on working both Saturday and Sunday of this weekend, but I managed to get a bout of food poisoning that hit me hard Friday night and take me out of commission all Saturday. I feel I've lost a day that I couldn't afford to loose.

A nice mecha-based shooting game that looks very slick. The controls in this game are a little different from the normal Japanese style - the arrow keys move, 1 is fire, 2 is bomb. Press alt+f4 to quit.

This is the first game in the Genocide Circuit series, and it's also an H-shooter. It's got a time attack and a regular mode. It's easier than Genocide Circuit 2, but quite a bit of fun.
