Cracking Roundup Gromit!
Weekend Roundup: Hans Nowak shares his "dead simple" options parsing system in Python. You know that you're a geek when your snooze bar is 'snooze' at the command line. Boing Boing links to a pdf file of a paper covering the google file system. It's mind boggling fun. John Robb notes that Ray Ozzie is looking for web services wizards to work at Groove. They've got to have something big, as there is already a great team there working on web services stuff. Root Prompt points to a Linux Planet review of a turnkey MySQL server running on hardware by Pogo Linux. Now even PHB's can run MySQL... Jenny points to the new Wallace and Gromit game for PS2. Cracking console game, Gromit! Mark Pilgrim has released Dive Into Python v4.3.

The magic continues
DANTE HALL! Once again, DANTE HALL! 97 yards for a touchdown, becoming the first player ever to return kicks for TD's in three successive games. And this time against a legitimate contender in Baltimore. Could Dante be heading for a third straight AFC Special Teams player of the week and second Pro Bowl appearance?

Second Post, First Rant
I was at an unnamed bookstore yesterday looking for a book I really wanted to add to my library. I was in a hurry so I went to there computer to look it up. Great!!! It's in stock on shelf F010, awesome, so I go to look, It's not there. I look through the whole .Net Section, not there. I look through the whole Programming section, not there...Ahhhh...I gave up so I started looking for another book and since I am 7/8 programmer, 1/8 graphic designer I start looking in the graphic design section to see if there was anything I wanted there and what do I see? About ten general programming books and three .net related books (non of which were the book I was looking for)!!!! Why can't bookstores keep their store in-line? Sooo.. A note to the Bookstores: If you want us loyal customers to come into your store and pay $20 over Internet prices for a book then you might want to make it possible for someone to find the book that they are looking for. A note to programmers: If you are reading a ...

Developmentor and Blogging
I am just back from an intensive C# .NET training course where Hardeep and I had the very lowest level inners of .NET drilled into us in a 9am - 9pm classroom led program. Personally, the first half of the course was the most beneficial for me. My skillset was very highlevel prior to the course, but in the first 2/3 days I got a great deal of exposure to all that lovely CLR goop like delegates, threading, ILDASM, etc, etc. Thanks to Ian, Si and Rich for their insight into .NET Interesting blog-moment happened on the course- let me summarise: Gav blogs about project Hurricane > He Points to Dominic&My blog's > Ian Griffiths reads Gav's blog randomly > Goes to Dominic's > See it has an issue with Mozilla > Ian emails Dom > Dom tells me > I turn round in the lab room and ask Ian. Its a small small world and all that... (I have actually been on that kids ride in Disneyland Paris - i rock!)

Changing careers to acting...
...NOT. Had the very new and interesting experience of doing some acting/filming for an internal TV show at Microsoft. But boys a dear was I rubbish :) I am still hoping my "scenes" will be left on the cutting floor The show was in the theme of University Challenge with a Paxman type person asking the questions. Even though I knew the answers prior to them being asked I couldnt get the words out of my mouth the way i wanted. Thank goodness for computers (and the .NET Framework ;)) is what I say!
