Ladies and Gentlemen...
Please welcome Wesner Moise to the blogosphere. Wesner's the guy who did the Strings, Arrays, and Pointers Undocumented articles on CodeProject. Brilliant guy... His blog looks very interesting, and seeing as how he's working with Microsoft right now, he'll probably be coming out with more good stuff as PDC time approaches. :)

Baby More Active
Well, baby decided to give me a good wallop early this morning as I tried to lay partially on my stomache. I took that wallop to mean he did not like that position nor did I not like the punch. It was definately the hardest one to date. Baby is mostly active when I am resting on my back but when I try to feel where he has just moved he decided he doesn't want to play. Rachel did that all the time to Jason. Most of baby's movement are very low right now. I am sure he is moving his pitching arm around and getting practice.

No editing interface!
Okie, so I seem to have the autotrack plugin up and running. I’ll write later on exactly what I’ve pulled off, but now I really, really want an RSS parser. But it looks like I won’t get that level of sophistication yet — in other words, time to decide soon if I want to make this live without the parser or not. Dang. I suppose, though, that I have the autotrack stuff on, so I don’t have to send the pings myself. (Time to go check out www.electric.gen.nz to decide where I’m going to put the address for this diary when I unpassword it…)

Making progress on trackback
Well, I’ve installed some more plugins. The only ones standing in the way of me definitely going release is my desire for a tb.cgi trackback interface — or is a .trackback style one okay enough to be picked up? I need some guidance here, methinks. Oh yeah, I need an RSS parser too for some headlines.Update, 2003-09-26: Some news appears to be that I’ve installed the tb.cgi standalone. Now I have to decide what trackback mechanism to use. At this rate, I think I’ll use both, one for trackbacks directly to the comments page, the other for autodiscovery.

Earthquake on Northern Island of Japan
A large earthquake hit the northern island of Japan today. No one in Aya's family was hurt. The center of the earthquake was far from Sapporo, but it was an 8.0 on the richter scale so it really shook things up all over the island. CNN has a good photo gallery with this article.

Friendster: An Introduction for the Uninitiated

When it rains it pours. I talked to Stuart Henshall in California and Matt Mower in London this week via Skype. And I can attest that Skype rocks! Quality seems to be better than iChat. And more people have PCs than Macs so there's more people to talk to. Can't wait to Skype my sister and her family in Rotterdam!

SKILLS. TALENT. $OURCE. OUT$OURCE.
The traditional definition of outsourcing describes using external agents to perform one or more organizational activities - purchasing of goods or services. Skype - radical innovation
I just converted a hard-core non-believer in beta software to try Skype - a very dear friend in London - we spoke for hours yesterday and it was so amazing - not once did the connection drop, not once did either of us have to "say that again". Better than anything a phone line or IM service offers. Much much better. Phil and Stuart have some interesting ideas and are evolving a pretty interesting vision for this service. I've spoken to both on Skype, and i sense there's much much more coming from them. They're going to be blogging their thoughts. So much potential - revolutionalising the way telcos and broadband / dsl link service providers operate, maybe the 'next social revolution' - new smart mobs in the making, once conferencing is built in ..... What i like about their thoughts is the combination of expertise in grokking the tech, a sound marketing and consumer focus, the visioning required to stretch and think strategic innovation, and the belief that it can happen. Reminds ...

Cyril Harris. (1898/9-1918). Rifleman R/9237 9th Battalion, King's Royal Rifle Corps
Cyril Harris died 85 years ago today on 26th September 1918 in a German Prisoner of War Camp in France. He was 19 years old. As a child I met two of his brothers Arthur and Harry and can remember stories told at family gatherings about him and his siblings. I now own the few remaining documents that mark his brief existence. I have scanned these documents and present them here as a way of preserving them and his memory.
