Finally
So after all those problems with my computer, a little while back it died again. The power source went. Well about $600 later I pretty much have a new computer. Seriously, I've replaced the motherboard, CPU, power source, RAM chips....

MenuApp 1.0
This project is a template of sorts demonstrating the following features:<P> 1. A Dock menu with a dynamic submenu.<br> 2. A Status Menu (similar to a menu extra) with a dynamic submenu.<br> 3. A background-only toggle to make the app modify itself to be either a standard application with a Dock menu, application menu, and listed in the basic applications list (i.e., the list shown when you do a force quit) or a background-only app with only the status menu visible.<br> 4. An AppleScript to Objective-C bridge for calling Objective-C methods from AppleScript.<br> 5. An Objective-C to AppleScript bridge for calling AppleScript handlers from Objective-C.<br> 6. Registering, reading, and writing defaults using "user defaults".<P> All from within AppleScript Studio. When building and running, you may receive an "NSReceiverEvaluationScriptError: 3 (1)" error. This seems somewhat arbitrary and, if it appears, the application ...

July 2003 traffic figures for www.newzealand.com
Shift has a 'news story' about www.newzealand.com (one of their clients). It claims of the 200,000 user sessions recorded in July 2003 100,000 of them were from the visitors typing in www.newzealand.com directly. I guess the guys at NZ Trade & Enterprise have been busy in their lunch hour :-)

MelbourneIT have just anounced that Bernard Blake has been appointed General Manager of Domainz. Blake has been with MelbourneIT for a number of years (Google shows him attending some ICANN junkets) and seems to be an internal appointment. One interesting thing did come up on him which makes me want to meet him :-)

Version 1.5.0 Complete
Last week we sent out the first GollyGee Blocks® version 1.5.0 CDs. New in version 1.5 from the version 1.4 CD are: Snapshots saved as JPEGs. The JPEG format creates much smaller files than BMPs and are easily added to web pages. Mac OS X Native Version. The Mac OS X version cannot run full screen yet but otherwise has the same functionality as the Windows and OS 9 versions. Mac Printing. Mac OS 9 users (and OS X users too) can now print from directly inside GollyGee Blocks®. Copy to Clipboard (OS X and Windows only). When running in a window, there is a camera button on the right side which will copy an image of the current view into the clipboard. This is a very powerful way to use GollyGee Blocks® with other programs, for example by building a Power Point presentation from a series of scene manipulations. Resizeable Window. When running a window, you can now resize it. Mac OS X and Windows only. Files saved in My Documents directories (Windows). On Windows, files are now saved ...

New Newsletter Module
Sunday—as has always been the case—is the most unproductive day of the week. I lazed around almost the entire day.Having said that, what is productive and what is not depends on your perspective. Today I was productive in another way: I rewrote my websites's Newsletter module in PHP. Actually, it was incumbent upon me to do so. When I had written the Newsletter module (in Perl), I had little idea of how many would subscribe to it, so I did not use a database for the mailing list. Believe me! In retrospect, it was foolish of me not to use a database, irrespective of the number of subscribers I had expected. Anyways, since I use a MySQL database, PHP was the obvious choice. I have yet to ratify whether it's working fine.
